Free Advice On How To Get Your Ex Back

Want to get your ex back?  It's not really all that hard, as long as you're in the right situation and you take the right steps.  However, it does require some work and genuine education.  Don't go into it thinking that you'll be able to say a few magic words and your ex will come right back to you.  Guides that promise that are offering an easy way out that doesn't work in the long run.  After all, your ex isn't an idiot.  It's not hard to tell when someone doesn't mean what they're saying.

Fortunately, there are a few basic things you can do that will make getting back together a whole lot easier.  Let's take a look at what you should and shouldn't do to get your ex back more easily.

Don't Be A Jerk

In just about every breakup, someone's going to say something that leaves a mark.  Both of you are probably just a little bit bitter and hurt, and angry at the other person, even if the breakup went pretty well.  It can be tempting to lay blame, be angry when you see your ex out with friends or someone you suspect they're on a date with, and just generally be impolite.  But if you want to get your ex back, this is one of the worst things you can do.  Take responsibility for your actions and don't be a jerk, even if you feel like you've been wronged.  It's not worth ending the possibility of putting things back together.

Don't Cling

The other really common response of people who are interested in getting back together with their exes is to spend a lot of time talking to them and telling them how much they miss being together.  It always seems like a good idea - after all, how will they know if you don't tell them?  While complete radio silence is never smart, being clingy and smothering puts you on the fast track to being dumped forever.  After all, who wants to deal with someone who makes every moment a downer?  If you're still in a situation where you and your ex are friends, go ahead and be their friend.  Just don't hang around all the time, and don't bring up the relationship when it's not appropriate.

Avoid Drinking

This might not seem like it's related to getting back with your ex boyfriend or girlfriend, but it is.  While the occasional drink at a restaurant is fine, don't be tempted to fall into the bottle.  It might dull the pain for a while, but no one likes a drunk.  Letting yourself get tipsy also lowers your inhibitions, and raises the chance that you'll start a fight with your ex or spend an evening begging them to take you back.  The result isn't just embarrassing, it's likely to end your chances of ever getting back together.  Don't risk it - skip doing much drinking after a breakup.  Your dignity will thank you.

Treat Them Well

Don't put your ex on a pedestal or treat them like royalty if you aren't going to keep it up, of course.  But if you've been guilty of taking your love for granted, spending too much time doing other things, and dismissing their opinions, it's time to make amends.  Make a commitment to treating your ex the way they deserve to be treated.  This isn't just a ploy to get them back - it has to be a long term change.  It can do a lot to help you get back together, though.
